Why our periods are like the seasons:
- Season 1 (Winter) Menstrual Phase: This is the week that you’re bleeding. You may have cramps, feel fatigued, crave comfort and certain foods, feel like hibernating physically and socially.
- Season 2 (Spring) Follicular Phase: You’re feeling brand new! Estrogen is up and your skin is clear and bright and you feel rejuvenated! This is a great week to go after your goals, be creative, and make plans with friends and family.
- Season 3 (Summer) Ovulatory Phase: This week your estrogen is at its highest and you’re feeling completely energized and more social than normal. This is the perfect week to keep going after your goals, meeting new people, and starting a new hobby!
- Season 4 (Fall) Luteal Phase: Much like fall’s weather ever changing and never making up its mind, this week you’re going to feel moody because of your hormones rising and falling dramatically. Your skin may start to break out and you may feel a lack of desire to be social. This is a great week to go on a walk, stretch, and take time for yourself.
